How to Save Big on a Luxury Wellness Retreat Using Points
Unlocking Affordable Luxury with Travel Rewards
Using credit card points and miles, a savvy traveler slashed thousands of dollars off a luxury wellness retreat at Miraval Berkshires, a high-end resort in Massachusetts’ scenic Berkshires region. By leveraging World of Hyatt points and Chase Ultimate Rewards, the traveler booked a weekend getaway that typically costs over $4,000 for just 130,000 points. This strategy made an all-inclusive experience—complete with farm-to-table dining, wellness activities like sound baths and beekeeping, and a $175 per-person nightly resort credit—accessible without breaking the bank.
The key was transferring points from a Chase Sapphire Preferred card to the World of Hyatt program, which offers a predictable award chart and high-value redemptions. Unlike other hotel loyalty programs with fluctuating prices, Hyatt’s transparency makes it easier to plan luxury stays at properties like Miraval, where rates start at $2,000 per night for two. This approach highlights how travel rewards can democratize upscale travel, offering Americans a way to enjoy premium vacations affordably.
Tips to Plan Your Own Points-Fueled Getaway
For those looking to replicate this experience, start by earning points through travel rewards credit cards that allow transfers to hotel or airline partners, such as Chase Ultimate Rewards or American Express Membership Rewards. Focus on programs like World of Hyatt, which provide consistent value and access to unique properties like Miraval’s all-inclusive wellness retreats in Massachusetts, Austin, or Tucson.
To maximize savings, book during off-peak times, transfer points strategically for high-value redemptions, and take advantage of included perks like resort credits. With careful planning, points can unlock memorable experiences—whether it’s a post-wedding decompress or a rejuvenating weekend with friends—without the hefty price tag, making luxury travel more attainable for everyday Americans.
